Honorable Mention My First Hummingbird M. Kathryn Black I hid behind the shrubs, a child, fruit within a meadow, smelling waxy bayberry, cushioned on a tuft of grass. I made a daisy chain and let an inchworm wander on a bridge that I had made with two short and grimy fingers. Near the corner of my eye there was incessant movement; I slowly turned my head and saw a tiny bird whose wings were whirling things. It danced much like a bee from flower to blossom, stuck its needle beak inside before flying to the next one. Even though my hands were small a dozen birds could fit, but such a jewel could not be picked. They were far too quick.
